Director, Global Brand Intellectual Property at Ferring International Center
Over the past 18 years, Nathalie Ruffin has developed extensive experience in defending well-known brands against counterfeiting, parallel imports and other acts of trademark infringement in private practice and in-house.
Ms Ruffin has spent most of her carrier in private practice and was previously partner at the Paris office of Bird & Bird. For 15 years she advised international and domestic clients on anti-counterfeiting strategies and provided them with global solutions and a multidisciplinary approach to enforcing their rights in Europe and Asia. She litigated before civil and criminal courts for a broad range of industries including electronics, media, sportswear, fashion and consumers goods.
In 2015, Ms Ruffin joined the industry as head of brand enforcement and litigation at Maus Frères group, owner of Lacoste, Gant and Aigle brands.
More recently, she decided to embrace a new challenge when she joined Ferring Pharmaceuticals, where she is responsible for pre-contentious and contentious matters, domain name management and the brand enforcement programme. She has also been part of the effort to build up the company’s global brand IP department.
Ms Ruffin is involved in many projects beyond her IP role. In 2018 she was asked to take part of a procurement saving programme within Ferring, where she was the only non-procurement person in the team. She achieved a significant saving for her category and was awarded an extra miles award. In addition, Ms Ruffin was also part of one of the semi-finalist teams of the Ferring Creativity Award, one of four selected from more than 350 projects. Ms Ruffin was one of two members of the Tiger team who organised the annual meeting of the general counsel’s team, reshaping the meeting format to make it digital for the first time.
