Mandar Chandrachud completed his postgraduate studies at Bombay University in 2004. He holds an LLM (specialism in commercial law and international law) from Bombay University and has 14+ years of experience in managing intellectual property and adopting counterfeit strategies for the fast-moving consumer goods sector.
Mr Chandrachud started his career as a trademarks examiner with the Indian Trademark Registry. He then worked with the Copyright Society Phonographic Performance Limited before joining Castrol India Limited's IP enforcement team. For the past 10 years, he has worked at Godrej Consumer Products Limited. In his current role as associate vice president, Mr Chandrachud heads Godrej's IP team, which includes handling a global portfolio of more than 7,000 trademarks, 200 designs and 50 patents, and he is responsible for managing the group's global anti-counterfeiting strategy, with a specific focus on Asia and Africa. Mr Chandrachud is responsible for resolving counterfeit issues by conducting investigations, framing, border control programmes, custom recordal, training and enforcement strategies, and has successfully executed numerous challenging IP enforcement campaigns for Godrej’s brands throughout the Indian subcontinent and in Africa. He currently advises his business on a wide range of IP management issues, providing strategic advice in relation to IP clearance, due diligence, acquisition, protection, exploitation and enforcement.
Mr Chandrachud also heads Godrej's international business legal function. This combination of in-house IP professional with his experience of handling international business legal issues and working with the various government agencies has given him an acute awareness of the need for commercial solutions and an understanding of the highest levels of international IP service.
