Lisa Ritchie is a UK-qualified solicitor with significant in-house and private-practice experience of multi-jurisdictional IP protection and enforcement strategies in highly regulated and complex commercial environments.
Ms Ritchie is currently senior counsel (trademarks, copyright and designs) at Philip Morris International (PMI), leading a team responsible for PMI's global IP litigation strategies for its reduced risk product portfolio. She has particular experience in multi-jurisdictional enforcement against lookalike products on the basis of design infringement and unfair competition. Ms Ritchie has also managed an extensive online enforcement programme to monitor and protect against unauthorised and infringing use of PMI's brands.
Before taking on her global role, Ms Ritchie managed all trademark, copyright and design protection and enforcement issues for more than 95 countries in the Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa region for PMI.
Before joining PMI, Ms Ritchie practised intellectual property at three high-profile firms in Australia and the United Kingdom: Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills), Howrey and Simmons & Simmons. At those firms, she represented global and high-profile brand owners, including in the beverages, clothing and pharmaceutical industries.
Ms Ritchie is actively involved in INTA and other IP organisations and is a frequent speaker on trademark and design issues, especially in an enforcement context.
