Vice President, Anti-piracy and Content Protection at Warner Bros Entertainment Inc
Ahassim Rashid is a highly motivated and versatile professional with a creative and commercial approach to problem solving. He has extensive experience working on and leading international IP litigation and infringement matters (eg, audiovisual content and copyright, trademarks and design rights), as well as online brand protection issues. Mr Rashid runs anti-piracy and anti-counterfeiting programmes; is experienced in brand strategy; and works with senior management, enforcement officers and government officials. He is currently lead IP counsel for anti-piracy and brand protection operations across a variety of Warner Bros Entertainment Inc’s international businesses and provides strategic and tactical legal and enforcement advice.
Mr Rashid manages and leads IP rights enforcement for a global portfolio of brands, content and products. He develops case strategy, litigation plans, budgets and cost management and procures the early resolution of cases through settlement. He also handles Warner Bros and industry content protection (audiovisual) litigation and enforcement activities for motion pictures and television programmes in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In addition, Mr Rashid leads hard goods anti-piracy and anti-counterfeiting matters on and offline and works with law enforcement around the world.
Within the United Kingdom, Mr Rashid works closely with UK Customs, Trading Standards and law enforcement officials in relation to criminal investigations, as well as providing operational support in the field during the execution of warrants and raids. He provides ongoing training and education programmes for law enforcement and other agencies in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as facilitating and handling training sessions in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
His role also involves the management and oversight of budgets and a network of worldwide outside counsel; trademark portfolio management; worldwide design rights portfolio management; and other general clearance, licensee and business development issues.
