Senior Partner at Tiantai Law Firm

Xiang Ma, the senior partner of Tiantai Law Firm, is one of the earliest lawyers to have specialised in trademarks in China. Over the past 25 years, Mr Ma has handled tens of thousands of domestic and foreign trademark applications, thousands of trademark opposition and review cases, and represented hundreds of administrative cases involving trademark authorisation and confirmation. His representative cases include China’s first three-dimensional trademark application, China’s first trademark reverse passing off case and China’s first trademark non-infringement litigation.

Mr Ma is the vice director of the Intellectual Property Commission of the All China Lawyers Association and the founder of the Trademark Committee of the Beijing Lawyers Association. He is also an adjunct professor at the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) and the National Lawyer College, a researcher at the CUPL Intangible Asset Management Research Centre, an expert of the Expert Advisory Committee of the IP Rights Case Guidance Research (Beijing) Base of the Supreme Court and a member of the Expert Committee of the Civil and Administrative Litigation Supervision Cases of the Supreme Procuratorate.
