Partner at Lexton
Tilmann Lührig is an experienced partner heading the IP department at Lexton. He advises domestic and international clients in all areas of industrial and intellectual property, copyright and unfair competition, as well as information technology and data protection – covering both prosecution and litigation.
He has special industry knowledge in the field of (old and new) media, entertainment, cosmetics, consumer goods, culture, real estate and information technology, as well as advertising agencies and public relations. He advises small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as international corporations, on the development, management, exploitation and enforcement of their IP rights portfolios. Together with his clients, Mr Lührig develops strategies to protect their patents, utility models, trademarks, designs, company and domain names, and know-how, and assists them in exploiting their rights through drafting and negotiating licence agreements and reviewing advertising tactics.
Mr Lührig conducts global trademark clearances and represents clients in prosecution matters before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the World Intellectual Property Organisation. He has extensive experience in representing clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the German Federal Patent Court, the EUIPO, the EU General Court and the Court of Justice.
Mr Lührig advises and represents clients in counterfeit matters and has significant experience in enforcing his clients’ IP rights in preliminary and regular proceedings, as well as in domain name disputes, before German and EU courts and administrative bodies.
He is a member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and INTA; he is serving as a member on INTA’s Law Firm Committee (Operations and Technology Subcommittee) for the 2020/2021 term.
Mr Lührig has received numerous recommendations from The Legal 500, WIPR Leaders and WTR 1000, which write: Tilmann Lührig “is brilliant at tackling internet-related enforcement matters and should be the first port of call for any branding conundrum. He is responsive and cost-efficient, and always finds practical and commercially oriented solutions that will solve even the most convoluted of cases.”
