Founder at Klos cs
Sven Klos received his education from the University of Amsterdam. He was a partner at Nauta Dutilh and Allen & Overy before founding his specialised IP boutique firm Klos cs.
Alongside his team Mr Klos counsels and represents clients in litigation and non-contentious matters regarding the international and national protection of trademarks, product design, content, knowledge and technology. He represents his clients in proceedings on all levels before all EU and Dutch courts. Mr Klos is one of the most experienced European trademark litigators in cases before the European Court of Justice.
A particular emphasis within Mr Klos’s trademark practice is on trademarks with a design element, such as colour marks, colour combination marks and the shapes of packaging and products. Another important focus is the protection of product design based on copyright, design registrations and unfair competition.
Mr Klos regularly publishes and lectures on a wide variety of topics, such as the protection of product design, sports marketing, damages proceedings in IP matters, the EU Database Directive, cross-border injunctions in trademark infringement cases, non-traditional trademarks, licensing contracts and character merchandising.
Mr Klos and his team represent many leading companies in the furniture, automotive, fashion, food, toy, games, advertising, entertainment and publishing industries. A niche in which Mr Klos has been a pioneer sees him representing a great number of sports organisations such as football clubs and leagues, as well as national and international sports regulatory bodies in the area of broadcasting rights and merchandising.
