Ramiro J Moreno Baldivieso graduated in legal and political sciences from the Law Faculty of Universidad Mayor de San Andrés in 1974. He also obtained postgraduate qualifications, among which an LLM from Harvard Law School and a JD from Salamanca University.

Dr Moreno is a permanent member and president of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Bolivia. He also represents Bolivia at the International Association of Independent Legal Firms and Latin America at the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators; he is also an active member of the International Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

Dr Moreno has close relationships with multilateral organisations such as WIPO, for which he is a consultant; the International Finance Corporation, for which he is an adviser; the US Agency for International Development/Bolivia, for which he is a legal consultant; and the World Bank, for which he is a consultant and adviser in legal matters in Bolivia. 

In the field of arbitration and international conciliation, is: an arbiter instructor acknowledged by the National Chamber of Commerce of Paris; a member of the International Chamber of Commerce; included in the list of arbiters for WIPO; and a member of the Spanish Arbitration Club. He is also a registered arbiter in the Centres of Conciliation and Arbitration of the Bolivian National Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Santa Cruz, Bolivia.

Dr Moreno is the senior partner of Moreno Baldivieso, which is based in La Paz with regional offices in Bolivia’s main cities.
