Pedro Tavares has worked in intellectual property since 2006, advising national and foreign clients on a wide range of IP issues, with particular emphasis on trademarks, unfair competition, copyright, domain names and IP transactions. Mr Tavares manages large IP portfolios in Brazil and abroad, providing strategic counselling and developing tailor-made solutions for his clients.
His activities include trademark clearance, prosecution and enforcement; IP litigation and counselling; negotiation, drafting and review of agreements involving IP rights; and due diligence investigations. He has experience in a wide range of industries, such as telecommunications, food and beverages, entertainment, advertising, luxury goods, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, travel and transportation.
Mr Tavares frequently authors articles on IP-related issues for national and foreign publications. He is also an active member of IP associations, in particular as a member of the INTA Bulletins Committee and of the Trademarks Work Group of the Brazilian Association of Industrial Property Agents.
Mr Tavares holds an LLM in intellectual property from the University of Turin and WIPO, a postgraduate diploma in IP Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and an LLB from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
