Head of IP Litigation at BMA - Barbosa Müssnich Aragão
Head of BMA’s IP litigation team, partner Pedro Frankovsky Barroso has extensive experience in complex litigation involving patents, trademarks, industrial designs, copyright and unfair competition.
Mr Barroso represents clients in all areas of intellectual property, from patents and trademarks to industrial designs and copyright. He also acts in unfair competition cases, especially in matters related to trade dress and trade secrets.
From 2003 to 2006, Mr Barroso worked on the software anti-piracy campaign sponsored by BSA – The Software Alliance, gaining expertise and insight into software litigation.
Although his practice focuses on litigation in the courts, Mr Barroso also assists clients with trademark prosecution before the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office and advises on contracts related to transfer of technology, assignment and licensing of IP rights, and other matters involving the protection of intangible assets.
Mr Barroso is frequently distinguished in rankings by legal publications such as The Legal 500, Latin Lawyer’s LACCA Approved; Managing Intellectual Property (as an IP Star for Trademarks) and Análise Advocacia.
Mr Barroso is a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and MARQUES, and serves on the INTA Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee.
