Paulo Monteverde is a founding partner of Baptista Monteverde & Associados, a law firm best known for its success in IP disputes, located in Lisbon, Portugal.
Dr Monteverde’s practice focuses on contentious and non-contentious matters relating to trademarks, patents and competition law. He provides strategic advice on developing and managing cross-border IP disputes and takes representation in Portuguese and international legal proceedings to enforce IP rights. He also represents parties in nullity and cancellation proceedings before the Portuguese Patent and Trademark Office, the Portuguese Intellectual Property Courts, as well as the EUIPO in Alicante. He also represents parties in patent arbitration proceedings and in domain names disputes.
Dr Monteverde has experience in various sectors, including those relating to pharmaceutical, information technology (including software), consumer electronics, food and drink, fashion and the automotive industry.
He frequently publishes specialist articles in the IP field and has authored or commented decisions on IP protection in Europe.
Dr Monteverde is a regular speaker at national and international events.
He is also an active member of several professional associations, having served as vice president of the Portuguese IP Association and chair of the Judicial Administration and Trademark Litigation Subcommittee of INTA. He is currently vice chair of the Geographical Indications Team of MARQUES.
