Monica Novac is a fully qualified lawyer who graduated from the University of Bucharest and the National Institute for Lawyers’ Professional Training. She also holds an LLM in business law from the Nicolae Titulescu University in Bucharest. Ms Novac is a member of the Bucharest Bar Association and the Romanian National Chamber of Industrial Property Attorneys. Her practice focuses on IP law, although her expertise also covers areas such as information and communications technology (ITC), labour, corporate and commercial law.
Before joining ZMP, Ms Novac was an associate lawyer with various major local and international law firms, focusing, among other things, on assisting clients with all aspects of trademark and design rights, copyright and neighbouring rights, ITC matters and personal data protection.
On the IP side, Ms Novac was involved in due diligence investigations, as well as in drafting and negotiating different types of agreement. Her experience also includes litigation and enforcement cases, prosecution matters, clearance searches and providing ongoing legal advice.
She has attended various IP seminars and conferences, and contributed to several online legal publications. She is a sworn translator for English and Spanish authorised by the Romanian and Spanish Ministries of Justice.
She is fluent in Romanian, English and Spanish, and has a good knowledge of French.
