at MSA IP - Milojevic, Sekulic and Associates
Mirjana Saric is a senior associate at MSA IP – Milojevic, Sekulic and Associates. After graduating from the University of Belgrade, Ms Saric started her professional career in the judiciary and moved a few years later to the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) of Serbia, where she worked for 10 years in various roles. In 2010 she was appointed head of the IPO Trademarks Department and remained on that position until she joined MSA as an attorney at law in November 2016. During her time at the IPO, Ms Saric actively participated in many programmes and activities organised by WIPO, the World Trade Organisation and the EUIPO.
Ms Saric currently leads MSA’s opposition and cancellation practice. She advises and represents clients in all IP matters in Eastern European countries, with special focus on trademark and design protection – including prosecution, counselling and providing advice during selection and clearance. Ms Saric has also worked on protection of plant varieties and breeders’ rights in the region. She further provides strategic IP protection advice and manages large trademark portfolios for global companies in industries such as confectionary and pharmaceuticals.
Relying on her rich experience, Ms Saric is committed to finding the best arguments in favour of the clients’ positions in opposition and cancellation proceedings and to providing highly reliable prospects for success, even in the most complex matters.
As an active member of INTA, Ms Saric is currently serving her second term as a member of the Trademark Office Practices Committee. In that capacity, she lobbied for the introduction of an opposition system in Serbia, which finally came into operation in February 2020.
