Martín Michaus

Martín Michaus has been a partner at Basham, Ringe y Correa, SC since 1993, working in the IP team in Mexico City.

Mr Michaus has held the following positions:

  • former president of the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property;
  • a member of the International Association for Intellectual Property Teaching and Research;
  • former coordinator of the Mexican Bar Association;
  • former president of the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property; and
  • former president of the Mexican Group of the International Association for the Protection of the Intellectual Property.

He is currently a panel member of the WIPO on trademark and domain name arbitration disputes, and a member of the Independent Film and TV Association.

Mr Michaus graduated from the Ibero-American University and has a master’s degree in comparative law from the University of Illinois. He is currently a candidate for a doctorate in law from the Panamerican Univeristy. He has collaborated on various national and international publications specialising in intellectual property and he also lectures on IP matters at various universities.

Since 2008 Mr Michaus has been recognised as a prominent IP lawyer by the international publication Best Lawyers.
