Partner at Kasznar Leonardos
Maria Pia Guerra is a partner at Kasznar Leonardos. She joined the team in mid-2019 and, due to her international background, took over the management of the firm’s Latin desk, known as ‘I’B The IP Hub by Kasznar Leonardos’.
Ms Guerra graduated in law from Universidade Católica de Pernambuco (1997) and has a master’s in European and international commercial law from the University of Leicester (1999). She started working in trademarks at a major IP firm in Brazil and moved to Geneva in early 2000 to join WIPO as a legal consultant for the Madrid and Hague Systems for the international registration of trademarks and industrial designs. Ms Guerra has represented WIPO at different international events worldwide, later returning to Brazil to start up the Brazilian branch a well-known European firm, managing all of its clients’ IP portfolios across the country.
Ms Guerra’s arrival at Kasznar Leonardos has helped to include the firm in the IP route to filings in Latin America and the Caribbean, providing companies around the world with a fresh and solid option for these regions. She is also member of INTA, the Brazilian Association of Intellectual Property, the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property and the Pharmaceutical Trademarks Group.
