Marcela Bolland Gonzalez joined Uhthoff in 1997 and was appointed partner in 2007. With more than 20 years’ experience in intellectual property, her practice focuses on handling trademark prosecution and litigation in Mexico, as well as coordinating trademark filings and related litigation abroad, and liaising between brand owners and agents throughout the world.

Ms Bolland Gonzalez is the author of Considerations of the Supplementary Application of the Federal Code of Civil Procedure to the Administrative Proceedings in Law of Industrial Property (2001). In 2012 she participated as a moderator and speaker for the International Trademark Association (INTA) meeting in Washington, where she coordinated and addressed the Latin American update session. During 2014 and 2015 she collaborated on a paper on shape trademarks – An International Perspective prepared by the International Trademark Law and Anti-Counterfeiting Committee of Intellectual Property Owners Association – and provided a chapter – “The Treatment of Bad Faith within the Law of Industrial Property” – for the book Industrial and Intellectual Property Studies published by Editorial Novum.

She is an active member of Abogadas MX, a non-profit association which aims to boost the participation of women lawyers in leadership positions within companies, firms and government institutions. She is also an active member of the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, the Mexican Bar Association and INTA.

Ms Bolland Gonzalez is fluent in Spanish and English.
