Laura Collada has been the managing partner of Dumont Bergman Bider & Co since 2008 and has worked at the firm since 2001. She has more than 26 years’ experience in the IP field and was previously director of the Sub-office for the Prevention of Unfair Competition at the Mexican Industrial Property Institute.
Ms Collada’s practice covers the complete lifecycle of IP rights, from consultancy to application and from enforcement to dispute resolution. She graduated with honours in law from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in 1986 and completed further studies in IP, corporate, civil, constitutional and environmental law (with honours) at the Universidad Panamericana, as well as a specialist course in contracts at ITAM. She has taught copyright and IP law at different universities in Mexico City, Aguascalientes and Veracruz.
Ms Collada has written about intellectual property for national newspapers and national and international IP magazines, and is a regular speaker at conferences on the subject.
Ms Collada is an active member of national and international professional organisations, including the Mexican Association for the Protection of Industrial Property, Barra Mexicana Colegio de Abogados, the International Trademark Association, the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, MARQUES, the Association of Patent Law Firms, the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property, the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Pharmaceutical Trademarks Group.
Ms Collada has been awarded Best Woman IP Lawyer in Latin America for three consecutive years (2013-2015) by Legal Media Group, and Chambers and Partners has recognised her as a leading lawyer in the field. Ms Collada speaks Spanish and English.
