Kfir Luzzatto is president of the Luzzatto Group and his family’s fourth generation to work in intellectual property. His practice covers patents and trademark matters.
The group that Dr Luzzatto heads was founded by his great-grandfather in Milan, Italy, in 1869 and moved to Israel more than 50 years ago.
Dr Luzzatto earned a PhD in chemical engineering from the Ben Gurion University of the Negev; he continues his relationship with his alma mater as a guest lecturer, in addition to speaking at other academic institutions on the subjects of intellectual property and technology.
Dr Luzzatto has dealt with many important patent cases, such as Prozac, Viagra and other breakthrough pharmaceutical products, as well as with sophisticated high-tech subjects, including cyber protection and defence systems.
He is involved in major trademark issues, including developing strategies leading to strong trademark portfolios worldwide and devising litigation strategies for clients seeking to prevent the registration of competing marks, and IP protection strategies for trademark owners in Israel and abroad.
Dr Luzzatto is the recipient of the Landau Award for research and the author of many articles on intellectual property. His book The World of Patents was published in Hebrew by Globes Press in 2003. His international book, Fun with Patents, was released in early 2016. Dr Luzzatto often serves as an examiner for the Israeli Patent and Trademark Office for applicants for a patent attorney licence in Israel.
