Partner at Arnold & Siedsma
Karin Becks studied commercial law at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. She started her career in 1992 as a trademark and design attorney. During her long career she has gained extensive experience with all kind of work related to the protection and management of trademark and design portfolios for different types of client, from small independents to large international organisations and multinationals. Now a partner of Arnold & Siedsma, she had joined the firm as a trademark and design attorney in April 2004.
Ms Becks enjoys the challenge of disentangling complex legal issues and making the subject-matter clear and understandable to her clients. While the solution to any problem must be legally grounded, for her it is at least as important that the solution be workable in practice for her clients. She is eager to align her clients’ trademark strategies with their commercial interests and future plans. This way IP protection supports their commercial activities in the best way possible.
In 2019 Ms Becks successfully completed the one-year Trademark and Design Education Programme run by the EUIPO – a programme specially designed for IP practitioners who handle the registration and prosecution of EU trademarks and designs.
Ms Becks is member of the Benelux Association for Trademark and Design Law, INTA and MARQUES, and regularly attends international conferences to maintain close contacts with clients and agents abroad.
