Julien Scicluna is a European trademark and design attorney with a master’s in business law from Strasbourg University. He also studied at the London School of Economics and is a graduate of the Centre for International Intellectual Property Studies, where he obtained a diploma in higher specialised study of agreements and intellectual property.
Mr Scicluna leads a team of trademark and design attorneys and paralegals, and focuses his practice on helping domestic and overseas clients to secure, defend and monetise their IP rights in Europe. His numerous trips to China and Japan have enabled him to adapt his practice to meet the expectations and legal approach of Asian clients.
Mr Scicluna is a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and INTA. He is also an active member of the European Communities Trademark Association’s Professional Affairs Committee, the China Task Force and the WIPO Link Committee.
He is an appointed expert with the European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights.
He regularly publishes on design matters and was the rapporteur on partial designs for the French Group of AIPPI.
He teaches at Lyon II Law University on IP strategies, particularly in emerging countries, and also lectures at EMLYON, a top-tier business school. His investment in the academic field has led to him speaking at events of prominent institutions such as the University of Osaka (Japan) and the Dom Helder Business School (Brazil).
Mr Scicluna was secretary of the French Institute of Patent and Trademark Attorneys from 2011 to 2016; as such, he was in charge of disciplinary matters for the French patent and trademark law profession.
