Founder at Advanz Fidelis IP Sdn Bhd
Jern Ern Chuah is the CEO and lead consultant for IP management and strategy at Advanz Fidelis IP Sdn Bhd.
Mr Chuah was the founder of Advanz Fidelis. In setting up the corporation, he established its underlying ethos: the belief that intellectual property and business should be integrated, not treated as separate fields.
Based on this understanding, Mr Chuah created the core values and key services of the firm. Advanz Fidelis became a pioneer in Malaysia, offering a wide and unique range of services to cover every stage of product development, from conception of an idea through to commercialisation of the resulting product or service.
Mr Chuah and his team continue to innovate and develop new services in the areas of IP asset management, symbiotic business and IP management strategies, IP audits, IP education programmes and IP archival programmes. In so doing, they provide clients with a full range of extended IP services to protect, manage and exploit their IP assets.
Mr Chuah’s day-to-day activities include providing practical business and strategic advice to clients on how to tie intellectual property and business activities together to increase their competitiveness and ensure success in their industries.
Mr Chuah is the IP adviser to the state government of Sarawak (eastern Malaysia), and advises on IP creation, development and management-related issues.
In the area of IP valuation, Mr Chuah was the sole Malaysian representative on the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law Experts Group on Security Interests in Intellectual Property, representing the views of developing countries in the development of the IP Annex to the Legislative Guide on Secured Transactions.
Mr Chuah has over 20 years’ experience in the IP field. He obtained a first-class honours LLB in the field of commercial lending and security law from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom.
