James Wang

Head of Legal Department at Ferrante Intellectual Property

James Wang is a partner of Ferrante Intellectual Property based in Beijing and leads the firm’s legal department.

Mr Wang started his career as an assistant economist in a government entity under the Development and Reform Commission of Jiangxi Province after he graduated from Zhongnan University of Economics & Law (Wuhan, China) in 2001. Mr Wan enrolled at the Renmin University of China Law School (Beijing, China) in 2005 and obtained his LLM in civil and commercial law in 2007. Now specialised in IP law practice, Mr Wan has helped many leading international brands register, protect and enforce their IP rights in China.

Mr Wang assists and advises clients predominantly on trademark, copyright and unfair competition law matters.

He has rich experience in assisting international brands with their China-related projects, including preparing shareholder and other agreements, IP rights acquisition, licensing and franchising, perfecting online and offline sales channels, maintaining and improving government relationships with Chinese authorities at different levels, and reorganisation and liquidation procedures.

Mr Wang is an experienced litigator with an impressive track record of winning important cases for his clients. He is a member of the All-China Lawyers Association and Beijing Lawyers Association, and a member of the IP Rights Commission of the Beijing Chaoyang Lawyers Association.

Besides Chinese (Mandarin), Mr Wang also speaks fluent English.
