Howard Kroll

Partner at Tucker Ellis LLP

A career litigator, Howard Kroll handles lawsuits involving claims of copyright and trademark infringement, cybersquatting, internet law and trade secrets at the trial and appellate levels. He has found great success in protecting the intellectual property of jewellery companies, cell phone providers, and social media and computer companies. Notably, Mr Kroll has represented cell phone companies in complex cybersquatting actions involving other companies’ registration and use of domain names similar to his clients’ trademarks, obtaining multimillion-dollar judgments and permanent injunctions in favour of his clients. He also has represented a multinational computer technology company in a complex cybersquatting action involving the registration and use of over 1,000 domain names that were confusingly similar to his client’s trademarks, obtaining consent judgment and permanent injunction pursuant to a confidential settlement agreement.

Mr Kroll acts as national counsel for several jewellery companies in enforcing, protecting and defending their IP rights. In that role, he has sent hundreds of cease and desist letters, filed and litigated dozens of lawsuits and collected millions of dollars in damages for copyright and trademark infringement, as well as counterfeiting and cybersquatting.

Mr Kroll is a member of the Copyright Law & Anti-Piracy Committee of the Intellectual Property Owners Association and a member of the International Trademark Association. He earned his law degree at the University of Southern California and his undergraduate degree cum laude at Claremont McKenna College.
