Gianluca De Cristofaro is partner and head of the IP practice of LCA Studio Legale. He has more than 20 years’ experience in the industrial property field, particularly trademarks. Mr De Cristofaro advises clients on all aspects of IP law, with a particular focus on trademarks and designs, as well as on misleading and comparative advertising litigation. Mr De Cristofaro has particular experience in anti-counterfeiting measures, recording IP rights with customs authorities around the world, as well as prosecuting domain name complaints targeted at cybersquatters. He advises clients on the drafting and negotiating of licence and assignment agreements, co-branding agreement and advertising related agreements. Mr De Cristofaro also has extensive experience acting across various commercial sectors, including fashion, food, sport, technology, media and telecoms, from small entrepreneurial start-ups to global businesses.
Mr De Cristofaro is a dual-qualified attorney at law in Italy and a chartered trademark attorney before the Italian Patent and Trademark Office, the EUIPO and WIPO. This allows him to provide tailored strategic and commercial advice, from protection and enforcement to defence. He is an expert for the Chamber of Commerce of Milan regarding disputes related to ‘.it’ domain names and a technical consultant of the Court of Milan in trademarks, designs and domain names.
Mr De Cristofaro has a PhD in intellectual property and is the author of several publications. He teaches trademark and design protection in both master’s and specialisation courses. For his knowledge in the IP arena, Mr De Cristofaro has been recognised with important national and international awards.
