Director at Francine Tan Law Corporation
Francine Tan is the founder of Francine Tan Law Corporation, which – despite the relative youth and lean size of its team – has been recognised as a leading Singapore IP practice for the past several years.
Apart from trademark and design prosecution work, the firm is active in the field of trademark enforcement and regularly works with the IP Rights Branch of the Singapore Force or local Customs authorities in relation to the identification and seizure of counterfeit goods. The firm has represented clients in prosecuting and defending copyright and trademark infringement claims, as well as in many trademark opposition and revocation proceedings before the IP Office of Singapore.
The firm also assists clients in transactional matters including franchise and licence agreements, and in domain name disputes. Ms Tan has been a domain name panellist of WIPO, the National Arbitration Forum and the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre for many years.
The firm is known for its promptness of response and attention to detail. With its strong and close network of foreign law firms and attorneys across the globe, especially in Southeast Asia, India and China, it is able to assist clients across various jurisdictions.
In 2020 the firm received the title of “Singapore Trademark Firm of the Year” at the IAM and WTR Global IP Awards event in London. Following research by independent market-research institution Statista, the firm was also identified in the inaugural list of The Straits Times/Statista’s “Singapore Best Law Firms 2021” as one of the top firms for IP law in Singapore.
Ms Tan has been recognised as a leading IP practitioner in Singapore and, on the global stage, as one of the “Top 250 Women in IP 2020”.
Ms Tan has been elected to the INTA Board of Directors for the 2021-2023 term.
