Flavio Arosemena Burbano obtained his law degree with a specialisation in intellectual property from the Catholic University of Guayaquil and his LLM from Georgetown University in Washington DC. He is a former regional and national director of the Ecuadorian Intellectual Property Institute and the first IP attorney based in Guayaquil ranked in Chambers and Partners and World Trademark Review.
Mr Arosemena Burbano is the founder of Arosemena Burbano & Asociados, the first IP law firm based in Guayaquil. The firm currently represents a diversity of clients including software producers, music labels, universities, radio and TV stations, supermarkets, creative agencies, inventors, football clubs, audiovisual producers, film directors, actors and designers, among others. Mr Arosemena Burbano is also the first IP legal adviser of the Superior Polytechnic School of the Littoral, one of the most important technical research centres in the country. He teaches IP law in some of the best universities in Ecuador and was the first IP professor from Ecuador invited to the WIPO-World Trade Organisation Colloquium for Teachers of Intellectual Property in Geneva, Switzerland.
He is the author of a bill that could become the first Right of Publicity Law in Ecuador, if approved by the National Assembly.
