Fabian Wigger

Fabian Wigger’s practice covers a wide range of contentious and non-contentious patent, trademark, copyright and other IP-related matters – in particular in the arts, media, sports and entertainment industries. He frequently drafts and negotiates licence, distribution and cooperation agreements. He is also specialised in the field of collective rights management.

Mr Wigger studied law at the University of Zurich. He later worked as a research assistant to Reto M Hilty, chair for IP law at the same university, and pursued his research projects as a guest researcher at the Max Planck Institute in Munich.

After completing his studies, Mr Wigger became head of a licensing department at a copyright collecting society, supervising the licensing of musical works to producers of sound and video carriers and online service providers and being responsible for the collection of Switzerland’s copyright levies. From 2011, he enhanced his expertise in IP law as a member of the IP practice group of a tier 1 law firm in Zurich. He joined WEINMANN ZIMMERLI in 2015.

Mr Wigger frequently publishes and lectures on IP topics, in particular in the field of Swiss and European copyright law.

He is the head of the firm’s Zug office.
