Admitted to the Bar in 2008 as an advocate of the High Court of Uganda, Edwin Tabaro focuses on intellectual property in East Africa, banking and project finance, civil litigation and commercial disputes, as well as arbitration and mediation.

Mr Tabaro has litigated ground-breaking IP cases in the Commercial Court of Uganda; in particular, he led the KTA team in the first case of its kind on the enforcement of image rights in Uganda, and the enforcement of trade secrets and confidential information. Mr Tabaro has also handled cross-border IP disputes, as well as complex disputes arising from banking transactions for a number of financial institutions that the firm represents. He also focuses on deal structuring and raising finance for projects and has in particular advised Pearl Meat Industries, a consortium of Italian Cogemeat ltd, UAE Fund Salah Khamas Capital and local partners, on setting up a beef export company for which he is a director. Mr Tabaro currently leads the KTA team advising the National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank on the protection and preservation of animal genetic resources using IP rights tools.

Mr Tabaro is a leading attorney in Uganda; he served as immediate past council member of the East Africa Law Society where he led the team that set up the East Africa Law Society Institute; he also sits on various committees (including the research and publications committee) of the Uganda Law Society whose annual law conference he organises.
