Clarissa Jaegger is a lawyer and partner at Montaury Pimenta, Machado & Vieira de Mello; she has been practising IP law since joining the firm in 2001. Ms Jaegger manages the trademark portfolio of several large clients in a wide variety of fields such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, entertainment, telecommunications, technology, automobiles, finance, retail and other service businesses. She also has extensive experience in client consultation on IP matters, carrying out due diligence processes and the drafting of IP agreements.
Her practice is mainly focused on the following:
- trademark clearance and availability searches;
- trademark prosecution, including all procedures from the filing to the registration at the Brazilian Trademark Office;
- recordal of corporate changes at the Brazilian Trademark Office;
- trademark policing and enforcement;
- negotiation of settlement and co-existence agreements; and
- trademark procurement.
Ms Jaegger is a member of international IP associations, as well as a member of the Argentinian Association of Industrial Property Agents, with the aim of protecting client interests in Argentina and to improve the trade relations between two of South America’s most important economies. Ms Jaegger is also responsible for the firm’s Asian desk and has been attending conferences in the Asia-Oceania region over 10 years, including the Asian Patent Attorneys Association, LawAsia and China Trademark Association.
Her substantial IP knowledge has led to her recognition as a reliable IP professional by several international guides, such as the WTR 1000 2019, Leaders League 2019, the WIPR Leader (2018, 2019 and 2020), and the Client Choice Awards 2018.
