Cecilie Berglund has significant experience in IP law and dedicated her entire career to helping clients to establish and create value from their IP rights.
Ms Berglund has a passion for trademarks and copyright, and has in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the music industry. Known for her pragmatic, yet thorough and to-the-point approach, she provides legal services relating to Norwegian trademark law and practice, trademark searches, examination and oppositions, as well as advice on strategies for the protection and enforcement of IP rights in general. She provides clients with creative solutions that not only resolve immediate issues, but also consider potential pitfalls down the road.
Ms Berglund has a keen understanding of the relationship between commerce and law, and is experienced in advising clients on the commercial aspects of IP law – from agreement work, such as licensing and assignments, to due diligence exercises.
She advises both start-ups and large Norwegian and international well-established companies, and her clients come from a wide range of industries, including the entertainment, automotive, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, health-tech, sports, food, retail and financial industries.
Ms Berglund regularly holds lectures on various aspects IP rights.
In addition to her daily work at Bryn Aarflot, Ms Berglund is chair of the board of FONIP – the Association of Norwegian Intellectual Property Attorneys.
She graduated with a law degree from the University of Oslo in 1993, specialising in patent and trademark law. She started her IP career at the Norwegian Industrial Property Office, followed by five years at Deloitte, where – in addition to competition law and business law – she specialised further in the commercial aspects of IP law, including copyright law. She was admitted to the Bar in 2006, joined Bryn Aarflot in 2008 and was made partner in 2013.
