Ben Mooneapillay has 20 years’ experience in the trademark profession and provides the full range of contentious and non-contentious trademark-specific services, including filing, prosecution, opposition, maintenance, searches and clearance. He advises clients on infringement, enforcement, strategic issues, dispute resolution and mediation.

Mr Mooneapillay represents clients before the UK Trademarks Registry and the EU Intellectual Property Office, and is an authorised representative in both inter partes and ex parte proceedings and before the World Intellectual Property Organisation. His clients include household names in the luxury goods, gaming, film, sporting equipment, food and fashion sectors, as well as leading, cutting-edge businesses operating in the pharmaceutical and scientific apparatus fields. He also advises small and medium-sized enterprises in – among others – the retail, automotive, drinks, art, charity and trade association sectors.

He is a named contributor to the Trade Mark Handbook (Sweet & Maxwell). He has tutored advanced-level students at the Institute of Trademark Attorneys for a number of years and is a past examiner for the Joint Examination Board. Mr Mooneapillay has chaired several roundtable discussions on European case law with attorneys from around the world at the International Trademark Association’s annual conferences. He has also been a guest speaker at various other conferences. Mr Mooneapillay worked for a number of years with global law firm Clifford Chance and joined J A Kemp in 2012 after working elsewhere in private practice.
