Ana Castañeda

Ana Castañeda is head of the trademark and patent department at C&L Attorneys. Ms Castañeda holds a law degree and has a technical background as an electronic engineer. She began her practice in intellectual property in 2000 and has particular expertise in the fashion and apparel, cosmetic, technology and pharmaceutical industries.

Ms Castañeda’s background also includes a diploma in the Patent Cooperation Treaty from the Mexican Trademark Office. She also has diplomas in general IP law, electronic commerce and intellectual property and biotechnology from the World Intellectual Property Organisation, as well as several other courses and lectures related to patents, designs and distinctive signs.

Ms Castañeda has been ranked by the WTR 1000 and WIPR LEADERS as a top-tier attorney in Mexico, in both the trademark and patent rankings for several years in a row.

Ms Castañeda is collaborating with INTA, mentoring and advising other colleagues through table topics and lectures. Her published articles include:

  • “Co-existence of Trademark and Reserva of Rights in Mexico”, World Review;
  • “New Rules for Franchising”, Informa Law; and
  • “Insight to Mexico’s IP”, Trademark World.

Ms Castañeda is fluent in English, French and Spanish. She therefore has excellent communication skills which are vital for providing clients with clear, proactive and unequivocal guidance.
