Aleksey Zalesov is a managing partner and founder of A Zalesov & Partners Patent & Law Firm LLC. He has practised IP law since 1993 and has dealt with more than 250 patent and trademark litigations before the Russian courts and administrative bodies.

Dr Zalesov specialises in trademark and patent litigation, including infringement and validity trials. He is well known for the successful invalidation of more than 40 Russian and Eurasian patents, mostly focusing on pharmaceuticals, applied science and electronics. He has successfully defended more than 55 patents in validity trials and has represented clients before the Supreme Arbitration Court and the Supreme Court.
In addition to an LLM from the Moscow Academy of Law and a PhD in law from the Russian Institute of Intellectual Property, Dr Zalesov has a master’s in physics from the Moscow Physics Engineering Institute. He is registered as an attorney at law, a Russian patent and trademark attorney and a Eurasian patent attorney. Dr Zalesov serves as president of the Russian group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and served as president of the Russian Patent Attorney’s Chamber from 2012 to 2018. As a member of the Russian Institute of Intellectual Property and the Moscow Academy of Law (IP section), he regularly contributes to academic studies in IP law.
Before starting his own law firm, Dr Zalesov was the leading IP litigation counsel with a major law firm in Moscow from 2001 to 2017.
