Amendments to trademark legislation come into force

The Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Amendments to the Law on Trademarks, Service Marks and Appellations of Origin”, which was adopted by the Kyrgyz Parliament late last year, has come into force. Among other things, the amended law introduces the right to pledge exclusive rights to a trademark and the rights deriving from a trademark, and also provides for the definition of a 'well-known trademark'.

Administration of '.kg' ccTLD transferred to Kyrgyz IP Office

The transfer of the administration of the Kyrgyz Republic's ccTLD, '.kg', to the Kyrgyz Intellectual Property Office has been made official. The office and AsiaInfo, a local communication company, have signed a protocol of intentions under which the administration of the '.kg' domain will be transferred from AsiaInfo to the office.

Kyrgyz IP Office to administer '.kg' ccTLD

Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiev has signed a new decree on domain names which authorizes the Kyrgyz Intellectual Property Office to administer the Kyrgyz Republic's country-code top-level domain, '.kg'. Prior to the decree, the ccTLD was under the authority of the Kyrgyz government.
