Roma Arora has a master’s in law and more than 15 years’ experience in corporate advisory, IP strategy, compliance, commercial contracts and litigation.

She started her career with a boutique law firm where she advised international clients on setting up businesses in India, which involved mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and their compliances, risk mitigations, approvals, IP advisories and the drafting of transaction documents, among other things.

She then joined Reliance as in-house counsel, where she was responsible for handling HR compliance, commercial contracts and commercial litigations.

Ms Arora currently heads the IP team for Havells, where she strategises IP transactions, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, collaborations, licensing, assignments, technology transfers, product launch, compliance, development, management and enforcement (civil, criminal and administrative) of the group’s global intellectual property. She also has rich experience handling high-stake commercial disputes, International Chamber of Commerce arbitrations, contracts and litigations. She has successfully handled and advised on high-value commercial transactions and issues.

Ms Arora is adept at understanding the legal issues faced by corporates and is proficient in translating her learning and expertise into providing pragmatic legal and commercial solutions. She has facilitated business by advising on risk mitigation and giving enabling legal-business solutions. She has numerous successful global litigations and IP enforcement actions to her credit in challenging jurisdictions, including Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, the United Arab Emirates, Tanzania, Nepal and Nigeria.
