Miroslav Černý's Profile

Miroslav Černý graduated (PhD) from Faculty of Law, Masaryk University in Brno and his main areas of expertise during his studies were civil law and intellectual property law.

Mr Černý works as head of Intellectual Property Department at ŠKODA AUTO. In 2009, he attended internship at a patent and legal department in Volkswagen in Germany. In 2013, he studied at Summer Institute on Intellectual Property Rights in China, Peking University.

Mr Černý is a Czech patent attorney and a European trademark and design attorney. He is also a member of the editorial board of the Industrial Property Journal of the Czech Republic, and an external university tutor and lecturer in a number of courses for members of the expert public. In his lectures and his publications, he primarily focuses on intellectual property law and contract law. He is a co-author of the commentaries on the Czech design protection and trademark laws. In 2016, Mr Černý received an award for In-House Lawyer of the Year in the perspective category from the Association of In-House Lawyers of the Czech Republic. He was likewise included in the 2021, 2022 and 2023 editions of the WTR 300: The World’s Leading Corporate Trademark Processionals. He is a member of the board of the Licensing Executives Society Czech Republic and Slovakia. ŠKODA AUTO IP has received international awards such as the WTR Industry Award 2023 in the category of vehicles and transport and the Best IP Department in Russia & Central and Eastern Europe 2019 from Leaders League.
