Lia Young has since 2012 managed the trademark portfolio of Caterpillar’s flagship brands in Europe, the Middle East and Russia, and she has global trademark responsibility for several European based subsidiary brands including Perkins, MWM and FG Wilson. In 2018 she assumed responsibility for Caterpillar’s non-US based trademark team that cover all trademark matters for the Africa, Asia-Pacific and India regions. Caterpillar Inc is a Fortune 100 Company whose brand is consistently listed in Interbrand’s top 100 Best Global Brands having a 2021 Interbrand valuation of $6.5 billion.
Based at Caterpillar’s engine facility in Peterborough, UK, Ms Young is a solicitor and a chartered trademark attorney. She is an IP Federation trademark committee member and was named a Corporate IP Star by Managing IP in 2020 and 2021. Having spent the first half of her career in marketing and PR, Ms Young is also a CIM qualified chartered marketer and ISBA Award recipient for her media relations and advertising studies. She is also an alumna of the Queen Mary trademark law and practice PGCert and University of Oxford PGDip in intellectual property law and practice courses.
Ms Young is also an active D&I member of Caterpillar’s employee resource group, the Women’s Initiative Network, a supportive network that accelerates business results by developing women.
