Firm Profile

Romo de Vivar V IP was founded on 17 October 2017 with one thing in mind: a VIP service where the firm knows each client, as well as their needs, business, objectives and people, and provides an efficient service and innovative solutions.

Trusting us with their intangible assets and projects is our national and foreign customer base of independent authors and inventors, start-ups and Fortune 500 companies in practically all industries. Our multidisciplinary team assists clients efficiently, providing a true service culture. Romo de Vivar V IP is an active member of national and international associations, including several boards of directors, giving us a key strategic role in the Mexican legal industry

The firm’s main expertise is in the trademark prosecution and litigation areas; however, as of December 2018, a new partner joined us and opened a department that handles litigation in mercantile law, corporate and economic law, civil law, commercial and international arbitration, amparo and contract law.

Our partners have practised law at some of the most prestigious IP firms in Mexico and have many years of professional experience under their belts. Over the years they have had the opportunity to learn the needs of the IP rights holders, understand the market and to provide top-notch personalised services. In 2009, Romo de Vivar V IP began to develop the ‘VIP’ concept and service scheme that the IP market demands.

Our internal procedures are so accurate that we receive little to no formal official actions. Oppositions in Mexico are also a part of prosecution and therefore a big part of our practice where have had a high success rate.

Romo de Vivar V IP has seen considerable and steady growth in the patent department over the past couple of years, as a result of the working closely with our clients, giving them a personal attention and understanding their needs.

As Mexico is a civil law country, it can prove tough for clients to understand our formalities, but our commitment to customer success and honesty, means that we get to know our clients so well that we can give them the best practical advice for their success and deliver on it. Our VIP service means that we treat every client as a star, looking after them regardless of whether they have one simple issue or 1,000 complex matters.

The firm has witnessed growth each year since it was established. Although we began small, we are now a medium-sized firm in the Mexican market. Today, we have a reputation for a fast and complete service in all IP areas, particularly in giving personal attention to clients, and we have already been ranked in several Mexican publications. Our vision of providing a VIP service to all clients, big and small, disrupts the status quo of legal services in Mexico and we have no competitors to mirror us.
