Founded in 1998, IntellecPro has been growing its domestic client base while advising global companies on trademark rights protection in China. Qi Hu's Profile

Qi Hu has worked in the IP field since 1985. Before co-founding IntellecPro in 1998, he had worked at the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, NTD Patent & Trademark and Kangxin Partners. While working at NTD Patent & Trademark, he helped the firm to build its trademark and anti-counterfeiting department. He was also a co-founder of Kangxi Partners.

Mr Hu counsels clients in all aspects of IP law, but focuses his work on trademark prosecution, administrative enforcement, civil litigation and licensing. He has extensive experience in advising clients in IP strategy making and IP portfolio development. He is also known for his expertise in handling complex infringement cases and has helped clients successfully protect their IP rights in some high-profile cases.

Mr Hu serves both domestic and foreign clients. He assists domestic clients in brand building and patent portfolio development and manages their worldwide IP portfolios. At the same time, he helps foreign clients to obtain trademark registrations in China and enforce their IP rights in the country.

Mr Hu has served clients in a wide range of industries, including fashion, food and beverages, cosmetics, hospitality and catering, entertainment, consumer electronics, medical devices, automotive, telecoms and finance.

Milestones

  • 1998 – the firm was founded in Beijing by four senior practitioners, initially serving primarily international clients.
  • 2001 – a branch office was set up in Shanghai to meet our clients’ needs in the Yangtze Delta Region.
  • 2002 – a branch office was opened in Guangzhou in an effort to acquire domestic clients in the fast-developing Pearl River Delta Region.
  • 2003 – the firm merged with the Patent Office of the Ministry of Light Industry to strengthen its patent services.
  • 2005 – a second branch office was set up in the Pearl River Delta Region, located in Shenzhen.
  • 2007 – an agreement arrangement was entered into between the firm and IPRO Attorneys at Law to enhance the firm’s litigation services.
  • 2008 – the firm opened an office in Tokyo to facilitate communication with our Japanese clients.
  • 2016 – the firm took over the management of the IP department of Shanghai Hansheng Law Offices.
