María Kristjánsdóttir is an attorney at law at LEX Law Offices and the managing director of LEX’s subsidiary, IP boutique GH Sigurgeirsson IP. Ms Kristjansdottir has several years’ experience in IP law, specifically in all areas of trademarks. She has extensive experience in providing legal and strategic advice to domestic and foreign clients.

Ms Kristjansdottir’s practice focuses on providing advice on registrability, filing and prosecuting applications and overseeing clients’ domestic and international portfolios. Additionally, Ms Kristjansdottir works closely with clients to draft IP strategies and in conducting IP due diligence. She also has vast experience in the preparation of coexistence and licence agreements. Further, she is highly skilled in negotiations and dispute resolution in all areas of IP law and unfair competition and has handled various matters before the Icelandic courts, the Icelandic Patent Office and the Consumer Agency.

Among Ms Kristjansdottir’s main clients are large corporations in the fields of telecoms, tourism, pharmaceuticals, food production and government organisations.

In addition to IP law, Ms Kristjansdottir has wide-ranging experience in data protection matters and holds a CIPP/E certification as an information privacy professional. She is an active member of INTA, in particular as a member of the Data Protection Committee.
