“An effective combination between a high standard of quality at a reasonable cost”, Advance China IP prides itself on its perfect combination of efficiency and a commitment to high-quality, customer-orientated service. Started in Guangzhou and soon expanded into the Northern China, the outfit has evolved into becoming one of the biggest IP practices in China over two decades of development. It currently houses 900 IP professionals across the Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Shenzhen offices. Its multilingual trademark team takes on everything from pre-filing strategy, licensing to enforcement and litigation and has no problem meeting every demand of international brand owners. A specialised enforcement department works closely alongside a dedicated IP investigation team to tackle complex infringement and anti-counterfeiting cases. Leading the charge is seasoned litigator Ye (Steven) Li, who makes frequent appearances before the Guangdong courts and has extensive experience in trademark and anti-unfair competition litigations. An adroit brand protector and noted as a “top priority” among numerous domestic and overseas corporations including Hyundai, Shishido, Byton and LaLiga, senior partner Lucy Zheng is a pair of safe hands when it comes to protecting IP-related interests in China.
Lucy Zheng is a senior partner of Advance China IP Law Office whose practice has been specialised in trademark-related matters since 2006. She also heads the firm's trademark department.

Advance China IP Law Office (ACIP) is an award-winning full-service IP law office founded in 1999 by some of the first IP law practitioners of China, who wanted to build a law firm that is honest, efficient, professional and aggressive. Since then, ACIP has become one of the largest IP law firms in China, consisting of about 900 IP professionals, helping clients from all over the globe to obtain and protect their IP rights in China and other countries.
ACIP has four main branch offices located in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, which handle domestic and international trademark applications. A few more branches are also stationed in smaller but highly innovative and thriving cities such as Wuhan, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Changsha, Dongguan and Xi’an. A US representative office was set up in San Francisco in 2012 and moved to Sunnyvale in Silicon Valley in 2018 to ensure seamless communication and coordination with international partners and clients.
We obtain IP rights and build IP portfolio for clients from various industrial sectors with insight, quality and efficiency. Among all its IP practices, ACIP is especially proud of and regularly receives awards for its trademark prosecution and litigation departments. Our trademark team has close to 140 professionals and has been recommended several times by WTR 1000. We were one of the top 10 trademark filing agencies in 2018. Among these agencies, we are a traditional IP firm rather than an online platform and so keep strict control of the quality of trademark prosecution. Our trademark attorneys also possess fluent foreign language skills, ensuring responsive and smooth communication regarding legal consultation in multiple languages in addition to Chinese, including English, German, French, Japanese and Korean.
Since the firm’s creation, we have always kept our promise to our clients to provide the following benefits:
- one-stop IP consultation in prosecution, litigation and IP enforcement by competent attorneys who are highly experienced in the local practices;
- responsive communication and reliable solutions to meet the client’s needs;
- flexibility and creativity in providing customised services that are most cost/time effective for the client;
- consistency through our quotation and billing; and
- high quality of service.
ACIP prides itself on its perfect combination of efficiency and delivery of high-quality, customer-orientated service. The trademark department is divided into different teams covering different practice areas. Each team is made up of experienced trademark professionals, including attorneys at law, most of whom boast both deep legal expertise and language skills. They provide the full range of trademark services, from pre-filing strategy and responses to office actions, to post-application enforcement and litigation, aiming to maximise the client’s interests and benefits within the scope of Chinese law and the laws of other countries around the world.
ACIP also has a specialised enforcement department made up of attorneys with longstanding trademark practices and a highly competent investigation team. Excelling at actively acquiring evidence of infringement and utilising any infringement information provided by the client, this department provides all-round effective anti-counterfeiting services, ranging from passive to active protection.
