The year 2022 brought several changes to the Saudi trademark scene. In June 2022, the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) significantly reduced several trademark-related publication fees. A month later, the Ministry of Commerce completed the transfer of trademark enforcement jurisdiction to the SAIP. The move — first announced in 2018 — has strengthened the SAIP’s authority and brand protection capabilities. As a part of its Saudi Vision 2030 scheme, the country also revealed its plans to launch its first national strategy for IP rights.
