2021 was a fraught political year for Peru, with Pedro Castillo narrowly winning the popular vote following a series of legal challenges from his opposition. The IP community is now waiting to see how the new administration beds in and what the impact will be on IP laws and their implementation. The instability and uncertainty caused by the electoral saga have only been compounded by the covid-19 pandemic, which has had a disastrous effect for many law firms on the Peruvian market. Many have been forced to downsize or even shut up shop altogether – making the successes of those that feature here all the more impressive.
