The Indonesian Directorate General of Intellectual Property system has gone fully digital in order to streamline the e-filing and IP application experience. The officials can now be reached by WhatsApp and accept e-signatures, which has been widely considered by practitioners as a substantial logistical improvement. Further, a law to significantly reduce the examination day from 150 days to 90 is at proposal stage. However, the investigation and criminal raid actions are still heavily affected by the covid-19 situation in the country. IP lawyers remain cautiously optimistic about the market and are expecting a V-shaped recovery by the end of 2021.
