Cambodia is reviewing its IP guidelines in a bid to bolster its economy and attract innovators and investors. To this end, the government conducted a comprehensive analysis, which aimed to identify the optimal strategies to revise the National Intellectual Property Policy and make it more comprehensive. The authorities — currently in the consultation phase of the policy draft — hope that strengthening brand enforcement and protection and stronger compliance with international standards will foster R&D and create more jobs. Legal practitioners welcome this initiative and Cambodia’s transition to adherence with international IP standards.
