The latest statistics for 2011 on the seizure of counterfeit goods, published by the Austrian customs authorities, show that the number of incidents in which counterfeit goods were seized and ultimately kept in detention rose to a historical peak of 3,201, which mirrors prevailing international trends. The only sign of improvement was a significant drop in the amount of seized counterfeit articles to 97,957, with a total value of €5.3 million.
