Since Thailand was placed on the Office of the US Trade Representative’s Priority Watch List, various government agencies have taken steps to improve the protection of IP rights. During a ceremony to destroy IP rightsinfringing goods in August 2011, more than 1.2 million items were destroyed. In addition to enforcement by various means, there have been extensive public awareness programmes: banners reading “Intellectual Property Infringement is a SIN” and “Stop Piracy” have been installed in public places.
