Trademark Attorney at Kangxin Partners, PC
Samiko Sun obtained a BSc in information system and management from the Beijing Technology and Science University in 2007 and a master’s in IP management from the National University of Singapore in 2009. After graduation, she worked at an IP boutique firm in Beijing, assisting in administrative and procedure work. This earlier overseas study and later practice have fundamentally enriched her understanding of intellectual property.
In 2010 Ms Sun joined Kangxin Partners, PC, where she deals with trademark, copyright, domain name and Customs-related matters for many overseas companies. She specialises in trademark application and prosecution, opposition and cancellation, assignment and licensing, as well as administrative litigation. As a senior trademark attorney, Ms Sun also specialises in the recognition of well-known trademarks and strategy against trademark squatters in China. She has also published several articles in both Chinese and international journals in relation to the latest influential trademark examination criteria and cases.
Ms Sun has represented many famous foreign clients and successfully protected their trademark rights in China. She is also a fan of the fashion industry, which has worked to her advantage when advising luxury brands in China regarding the strategy of trademark applications, especially with regard to classification and the establishment of an evidence pool.
Her recent work highlights include the successful protection of many famous fashion brands, including Jimmy Choo, Dior and Moncler, in opposition and invalidation cases. She has also successfully represented Bvlgari in recognising its trademark as a well-known mark in an invalidation action before the Trademark Review and Adjudication Board.
