Mark Hiddleston is the director and founder of Hiddleston Trade Marks. He is a UK trademark attorney and trademark litigator and is also qualified as an Irish solicitor and trademark agent. He has a passion for trademarks and has more than 25 years’ experience in the field.
Mr Hiddleston founded Hiddleston Trade Marks with the aim of providing a responsive, commercial firm that is geared to its clients’ needs. Previously, Mr Hiddleston spent 10 years as a partner and head of trademarks for UK firm Elkington and Fife LLP. Before that, he was managing director of the trademarks group of the London office of Clifford Chance LLP.
During his lengthy career, Mr Hiddleston has handled trademark matters and large-scale trademark portfolios for clients operating in a diverse range of fields, including beverages, tobacco, food, confectionery, film and television, entertainment, pharmaceuticals, financial, automobiles, engineering, publishing, software and hardware.
He has extensive experience in the clearing and searching of trademarks in the United Kingdom, Europe and worldwide; the prosecution of UK, EU trademark and international applications under the Madrid Protocol; the handling of UK and EU trademark oppositions; and the negotiating and drafting of trademark settlement agreements.
He is a member of the International Trademark Association Public Information Committee, chair of the Formal Publications Working Group of the Chartered Institute of Trademark Attorneys (CITMA) and a former member of the CITMA Counsel and Education and Training Committee.
Mr Hiddleston has an expanding practice relating to domain name disputes, including the filing of Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy Proceedings with the World Intellectual Property Organisation.
He is also a regular speaker at the annual trademarks summer school that is run by the Canadian Institute of Intellectual Property, lecturing on EU trademarks and Madrid Protocol international registration law and practice.
Mr Hiddleston is the senior editor of, and contributor to, the Trade Mark Handbook, the leading authority on trademark practice in the United Kingdom.
