Jose-Carlos Erdozain has a degree in law (1993) and a PhD in civil law with honours specialising in intellectual property (1996) from the Autonomous University of Madrid.
From 1995 to 1996 Mr Erdozain worked at the Max-Planck-Institut für Innovation und Wettbewerb. He was an assistant doctorate professor in civil law at the CEU San Pablo University, and an assistant professor at the Comillas Pontifical University and at the Autonomous University of Madrid, teaching a master’s in intellectual property at both universities. He was also a panel member of the World Intellectual Property Organisation Arbitration and Mediation Centre concerning conflicts between trademarks and domain names.
Mr Erdozain began his legal practice in 1997 and has since developed his professional experience, predominantly in the field of intellectual property. He has extensive experience in litigation, arbitration and business consulting, on a national and international level. He has worked for companies at a national and international level in different sectors, including apparel, audiovisual, creative industries, energy, construction and publishing. He has extensive knowledge on international contracting and arbitrations, representing corporations in the IT, telecommunications and audiovisual sectors.
Mr Erdozain is the author of several monographs and doctrinal articles specialised in intellectual property. He has been invited to speak at various conferences, seminars and other events.
Mr Erdozain is fluent in Spanish, English and German.
